In practice, this means that events in HR systems, such as hiring a new person, changing positions or leaving the company, automatically translate into corresponding accounts and permissions in Active Directory and Microsoft Entra directories. The AOHWV team approached us with a need to design an interface for the MVP version of this platform. They had defined functional assumptions, a selected technology stack based on Microsoft Fluent UI, and needed a partner who could deliver a complete design concept ready for implementation in a short period of time.
The assumptions we received were intentionally vague - the client expected us to help refine and validate them as part of the design process. This meant working with the product team and stakeholder on an ongoing basis, and stepping into the role of information architects even before the actual interface design began.
Scalability proved to be a key challenge. CloudSync must support both small organizations with a dozen users and corporations with hundreds of thousands of records. The permission relationship graph, which is clear and transparent in a small company, turns into an unreadable web of connections in a large organization. We had to design an interface that would work in both extremes.
The time difference proved to be an asset - we worked during the day, and in the evening we met with the AOHWV team for feedback sessions. This rhythm allowed us to present progress daily and make adjustments immediately. We delivered about 20 screens in different variants, a design system with more than 50 components and detailed documentation for developers. The client received a functional prototype in Figma allowing to test key paths before implementation.
